Refugee Project

St. Luke is working with 15 local churches and organizations and Catholic Charities in Harrisburg, to welcome refugees to our local community.  The goal of this project is to help support the refugee families as they arrive, through financial support, help with English, understanding American culture, educational support for the children, budget and financial training, help finding jobs, a car, a home, etc.  The goal is to help the family to be self-sufficient after 6 months in the USA.

St. Luke is helping through two of these routes currently – helping with the provision of furniture through our Homeless Connection (in conjunction with the Chambersburg Conference of Lutheran Churches) as well as asking for financial support that will be used to help the families with rent, utilities, purchasing a car, etc. in the first few months.

If you have any skills that could be used and are interested in volunteering your time, please contact Shelly Davies @ [email protected]

If you’d like to make a financial donation, please make your check payable to St. Luke Lutheran and put “Refugees” in the Memo.
